Roger Langford,
Conductor of the
Gwent Bach Choir since January 2002, has been involved with music making
since the age of five, when, albeit rather reluctantly, he received his
first piano lesson. He was a chorister at Lichfield Cathedral, music
scholar at Repton School, and gained a BA (Hons) in music from York
University before going on to study at The Royal Academy of Music.
Roger has been a professional singer for
over 25 years, working extensively in theatrical and concert environments.
He has sung roles for the Scottish Opera, has recorded for BBC Radio 3, and has
been under the baton of Sir Roger Norrington, Pierre Boulez, Marc Minkowski
and Thierry Fischer.
As well as conducting the Gwent Bach
Society, Roger was Director of the Kington Choral Society and has conducted the
Marches Chamber Choir on tour in Venice and Slovenia.
